LOVE LOVE magazine / A Print Magazine of the Arts

LOVE LOVE magazine is an independent print magazine based in Paris. It brings together textual and visual artists from around the world for a creative explosion of new visions in poetry, photography, illustration, collage art and music in a bi-annual publication.

The magazine is mainly in English, but features French texts and translations. It’s main collaborator and patron is Gerard Malanga, poet and photographer, first assistant to Andy Warhol from 1963-70, co-creator of Interview magazine and choreographer of the Velvet Underground. The magazine’s creator & editor in chief is Lisa Marie Järlborn, Swedish born illustrator, graphic designer, translator & filmmaker.

At the moment Love Love #7 is in the making. It will hit the streets in November 2023! And this issue will be…the psychedelic animal issue!

Some earlier contributors to the magazine, whom we choose to call Love Lovers include legendary artists from the Beat Generation circle, with names like Anne Waldman, Ed Sanders, Tuli Kupferberg (the Fugs), Charles Plymell, A.D. Winans and Bob Branaman to noise legend Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), pop stars and artists like Peter Doherty, Jonathan Richman, Anton Newcombe, Emmanuelle Seigner, Sharon van Etten, Tess Parks, Saxa Goth of  La femme, The Limiñanas,, Gil Lesage and Pierre Emery from Ultra Orange, as well as poets like Jeremy Reed and rising star Scarlett Sabet, whose latest album was produced by Led Zeppelin legend Jimmy Page.

The visual arts are very present with works by artists such as animator / illustrator Olivier Boscovitch, rock collage artist Julien Langendorff, painters Abetz & Drescher, Neal Fox & Robert Rubbish of le Gun, legendary Chelsea Hotel photographer Tony Notarberardino, photographer Nico Malvaldi and many other rising stars in visual art.

LOVE LOVE magazine is a rare object of beauty, inspired by the fanzine aesthetics of PUNK magazine, FUCK YOU / A magazine of the Arts and National Lampoon. Its creator Lisa Marie Järlborn still works with the cut-and-paste technique illustrates the covers herself and also creates an exclusive edition of hand-printed colour cover magazines by screen-printing. The magazine is printed on paper and is approximately 60 pages per issue in 500 copies. The magazine publishes only unpublished works and with copyright. Lisa Marie also offers t-shirts, tote bags and screen-printed posters with different Love Love designs. Everything is screen-printed by hand in the Parisian workshop.

Love Love is about bringing people together both in mind & body & therefore great emphasis is put on exhibiting our Love Lovers’ art, poetry & music through events and exhibitions. For each issue the magazine has hosted events in Paris, New York & London, featuring artists like Gerard Malanga, Bibbe Hansen, Brisa Roché, Thomas Baignères, Oliver Ray, No Land, Devin Brahja Waldman & many others. For the release of issue #5, “The Real Fake” issue, the magazine organized an exhibition at 0FR bookstore gallery in Paris where artworks from contributors such as Peter Doherty, Gerard Malanga, Jonathan Richman, Neal Fox, Robert Rubbish, Sharon van Etten, Tess Parks, Ed Sanders, Tuli Kupferberg & many others were shown.

In August 2022 the magazine exhibited in Williamsburg, Brooklyn at TwoSeven inc. featuring a reading, film screening and magazine signing with Gerard Malanga. Honorary guest was Danny Fields, manager of Iggy Pop, The Ramones, MC5 & more.

In 2021 Lisa Marie also created Love Love Tv, a magazine supplement where the editor does filmed interviews with artists. On Love Love TV artists have the opportunity to show their musical or artistic universe in a more personal and direct way. To watch on the magazine’s website: lovelovemagazine.fr or on Youtube. Lisa Marie also creates “photo novellas” in several issues of the magazine, which she turns into movies.
